About our client
NHAI stands for National Highways Authority of India. It’s a statutory body under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, responsible for the development, maintenance, and management of National Highways in India. NHAI was established by an Act of Parliament in 1988 and became operational in 1995.
What problem they faced?
NHAI deals with tonnes of litigation every single month. It means they are inundated with legal documents, correspondence with courts and advocates. They were looking to streamline the work of the legal department in an organised way and by using an online solution so that they would have to deal with fewer physical documents.
They were facing several problems:
- Streamline the sharing of documents between the office and the team of advocates.
- Upload the documents in an online system by scanning them and share them all in one single place.
- Create a system where the admin can keep an eye on what is being shared and at what level.
- There were a number of stakeholders – CALA, Arbitration Court, District Court, High Court and Supreme Court
- Upload the document at the very first stage and then keep on sharing it with each stakeholder.
- Create a notification using emails so that whenever an advocate is assigned a case, they immediately get an email.
- The admin can attend the hearings and should be able to upload the verdict/decision of the court.
- The admin can further pass on the case to the next level.
Strategy & tools we used to resolve their pain?
Keeping in view the problems they faced, we went for a Legal Document Management Solution (LDMS) that will be a game changer for their organization.
UI/UX Design
Our designer started on Figma, created around 100+ screens. We shared them with the client as a Prototype and once the prototype was approved it was the time to start on the code.
Tech Stack
React.js and Next.js are both integral to modern web development. We used both with MySQL database. Alongwith that Jquery was also used on certain modules.
Server
The application was hosted on a Hostinger VPS Server. As there were lot of scanned documents involved so we used AWS S3 Bucket to store the files.
What was the final outcome?
These were the happy outcomes. All because of our client’s patience & our efforts.
- The paperwork was cut to the least as physical file were scanned and shared using LDMS.
- They never missed any important document as they were well stored in the server and could be downloaded anytime.
- The online system ensured that advocates got the communication easily and they were also able to reply back.
- The department was able to identify the time being taken by every stakeholder to resolve the issue or pass it to the higher authority.
- Any user was able to login to his dashboard and start working without waiting for unnecessary approvals.
